Manuscript waste, 15th century

Used as spine-guard. From a 15th century English liturgical manuscript; on left, part of the text of a hymn of St Ambrose ('Deus creator omnium'), on right, musical notation with part of a verse for the response to 'Libera me, domine, de morte eternal' (from the Officium Defunctorum, following the Use of Sarum); this verse was widely circulated and also appears in the Burnet Psalter and the Bohun Hours.
