Isaac Newton, Opticks (London, 1704)
Published in English, rather than Latin, Opticks was a more accessible work than the Principia. Newton’s aim was to make known to a wide audience his experiments into sunlight. Amongst other things, these famously showed how colors arise from the separation of white light into component rays. This copy is one of two from the collection of Isaac Milner.
