Christian Interest in Jewish Kabbalah
Drop-head title, from: Johann Reuchlin, De arte cabalistica, Basel, 1587, bound with other kabbalistic works by Reuchlin, Paulus Ricius, Leon Hebreo, and Johann Pistorius
Renaissance Jews and Christians saw kabbalah (Jewish mysticism) as an early ancestor to Greek philosophy. Here Reuchlin argues in De arte cabalistica (first printed 1491) that the Greek philosopher and mathematician Pythagoras was an early proponent of kabbalah.
