'The first voyage of the right worshipfull and valiant knight Sir Iohn Hawkins, sometimes treasurer of her Maiesties nauie Roial, made to the West Indies 1562' : this account records how Hawkins bought numerous enslaved people and made great profit for himself and his companions out of their sale.
