Periodicals covered many of the same topics and debates as pamphlets (history, current affairs, religion and scientific discoveries etc.) but in a more readable style. By condensing topics into monthly or weekly digests, alongside light-hearted poetry, music and coloured images, learning reached a broader reading public.
