English (London) binding, 16th century

Blind-stamped calf, with concentric frames joined at corners; outer frame made of two blind rolls, outer roll with a falcon surmounted by a crown, a golden fleece hanging from a crown, and ornamental foliage (Oldham HM.h(10)) and inner roll with medallion heads, binder's initials "RB", and decorative foliage (Oldham roll HE.k(1)); centre frame with medallion heads and the initials "RB" (Oldham roll HE.k(1)); remains of clasps.
